A thought I discovered recently:
When you fail to imitate whoever/ whatever you are trying to imitate, you become a more authentic version of yourself.
The failing is good. If I took photographs that looked just like the photographs I admire, my wouldn't look like my pictures.
This newly planted thought has brought me so much peace. All too often I feel like I've failed when I failed to imitate.
Nope, just becoming more fully myself, one failed imitation at a time.
